Asia Day

October 25 (sun)

Asia Day is an event designed to provide networking opportunities between filmmakers from Japan and other parts of Asia. The aim is to nurture international co-productions that could eventually lead to the distribution of co-produced documentaries around the world. This event is open to anyone with a Tokyo Docs entry pass.

Screening of the TV series ”Colors of Asia 2015”

This 4-episode documentary TV series was developed at last year’s Tokyo Docs. Four Japanese TV production companies, together with four from Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia and India formed four separate partnerships, and in association with NHK, co-produced one episode each. The 2015 series focuses on Asian women who are breaking new ground in contemporary Asia, in the face of conventions and taboos that narrow their choices in society.

Along with the screening of the series, some of the producers will give talks about their experiences.

Colors of Asia 2015

Pitching for ”Colors of Asia 2016”

Due to the success of Colors of Asia 2015, Tokyo Docs is giving selected filmmakers the opportunity to pitch their projects for a sequel to be broadcast in 2016. Pitches will be made in the presence of the audience. The theme for the 2016 series will be the same as 2015.

Asian Producers Networking Event

These producer-to-producer meetings aim to connect Japanese producers with their counterparts in other parts of Asia.

Please see the Asian Producers page to see who is taking part from countries outside Japan.

Pitching

October 26 (Mon), 27(Tues), 28(Wed)

There will be two opportunities to pitch projects, which have passed the initial selection, directly to decision makers from Japan and overseas. Anyone with a Tokyo Docs entry pass can observe these events.

The Central Pitch (around 20 projects)

In the Central Pitch, producers are given 15 minutes to make their pitch. The first seven or eight minutes will consist of a presentation made to all the Japanese and overseas decision-makers. The remaining time will be a question and answer session. During the pitch, a trailer of the project (approx. 3 min. duration) must be shown.

The Roundtable Pitch (around 5 projects)

In the Roundtable Pitch, producers will only pitch decision makers who have expressed an advance interest in their project, creating a smaller-scale event that allows an open exchange of opinions. Pitches will last for seven or eight minutes, followed by a question-and-answer session, which will last for 15 to 20 minutes.
