Tokyo Docs Academy is a program where filmmakers can learn about international co-production. The main part of the program, the Planning & Development Session, focuses on the development of documentaries suitable for international co-production as well as the development of human resources.

Prior to the opening of Tokyo Docs 2014, screenings of outstanding documentary films and discussions with their makers will be held. Further details to be announced.
The Pitching Session provides filmmakers with an opportunity to pitch projects that have been selected beforehand by the organizing committee. Filmmakers will pitch their projects to an audience of TV station producers and staff from other documentary film production-related organizations. Each pitch will consist of a trailer presentation of several minutes followed by a Q&A session. This year, 20 projects from Japan and 5 projects from the rest of Asia will be pitched.

One-on-one Meetings are opportunities for filmmakers to discuss their projects with overseas guests. These meetings will be arranged in advance by the organizer based on requests submitted by the overseas guests and the filmmakers.

Asia Day encourages Japanese and other Asian filmmakers to develop their networking skills concerning program development, background research, and filming.

Panel Discussions and a variety of workshops will provide participants with information regarding the development of program ideas and how to proceed with international co-production. Further details to be announced.
The award ceremony will be held on the final day of Tokyo Docs 2014. Awards will be presented for projects from the Pitching Session that the festival’s overseas guests consider to be outstanding. The winning filmmakers will receive support from Tokyo Docs for the implementation of an international co-production for their project.
